Srinagar, J&K, November 3: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the recent grenade attack targeting civilians at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and the Sunday market in Srinagar, declaring there is "no justification for targeting innocent civilians."

Addressing the incident on social media, CM Abdullah expressed concern over the escalation in violence across the valley, especially attacks on non-combatants. "Today's news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the 'Sunday market' in Srinagar is deeply disturbing," Abdullah stated. "There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians."

The Chief Minister emphasized the urgency for enhanced security measures to restore peace and allow citizens to carry on with daily life without fear. "The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest," he added.

Earlier, terrorists targeted the TRC and the busy Sunday market, injuring multiple individuals who were swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, visited the Govt SHMS Hospital, where the wounded received medical care, underlining the administration's commitment to the safety and well-being of the injured.

The grenade attack comes a day after a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander was killed in an encounter in the Khanyar area of Srinagar
