Odisha Cabinet approves eight important proposals

Bhubaneswar, November 13: Odisha Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has on Wednesday approved eight important proposals.

After meeting,Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja briefed about the approved items, spanning multiple departments including Fisheries & Animal Resources Development (F&ARD), Water Resources, and General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG).

Key approvals include:

  1. Odisha Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024: This legislation introduces strict penalties, including up to five years of imprisonment and hefty fines for individuals and service providers engaging in unfair examination practices.
  2. Poultry Development Sub-Scheme: Part of the Prani Sampad Samruddhi Yojana (PSSY), this initiative, with a budget of ₹1031.19 crore, targets boosting poultry farming for nearly 3.74 lakh farmers and Women’s Self-Help Groups (WSHGs), aiming to increase meat and egg production over the next five years.
  3. Infrastructure Development in Fisheries Sector: With ₹696.21 crore allotted, this scheme will upgrade fish markets, farms, and government offices, benefiting approximately 16 lakh fishers by improving essential fisheries infrastructure.
  4. ARD Sector Infrastructure: A ₹449.71 crore plan for the Animal Resources Development sector, focusing on veterinary service enhancements, with new constructions and renovations across veterinary hospitals and aid centers.
  5. GOMATA Scheme: This scheme, with ₹342 crore dedicated to livestock management and veterinary services, will deliver regular vaccinations and treatments to livestock across Odisha.
  6. Mukhyamantri Maschyajibi Kalyan Yojana (MMKY): Spanning five years with an allocation of ₹2239 crore, this umbrella scheme aims to boost fish production across various sectors, directly benefiting around 14 lakh fishers, including members of WSHGs.
  7. Water Sector Infrastructure Development Programme (WSIDP): With an extended budget of ₹9652.24 crore, the WSIDP aims to advance irrigation projects over the next five years, creating new irrigation capacity, stabilizing existing ones, and mitigating flood and drought risks in key river basins.
