Bhubaneswar, April 19: Sagacity and understanding hold the keys to establishment of world peace, His Excellency Juan Antonio March Pujol, Spain’s Ambassador to India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives said on Saturday.
“It is important to maintain peace in the world and to achieve it we need intelligence and understanding,” Pujol said while having an interaction with students of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here.
Narrating his experiences as a diploma before students, Pujol said failures actually lead the way to success. He said he had decided to become a diplomat when he was 10 years old and was studying in United Kingdom.
Pujol said the Covid pandemic and the unprecedented lockdown imposed across the world following the outbreak had taught several lessons to humanity. It had also helped humans to get connected to nature.
Replying to questions, he said though education was important it was more important for a person to stress on proper conduct. Stating that Artificial Intelligence (AI) had become an important part of human life, Mr. Pujol advised students not to be too dependent on it.
Pujol expressed his appreciation for SOA’s growth while pointing out that the medical courses being offered by the university was a great contribution to the society.
Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, who presided over the meeting, said the university had launched a Centre for Language Studies. He said that the centre would teach Spanish, Japanese, German, French and Mandarin languages in addition to Indian languages.
Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA and Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Stuents’ Welfare) also spoke. The meeting was attended by Deans and Directors of different institutions of SOA and senior officials.
