Bhubaneswar, April 19: The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha on Saturday, hailed a Journo for piloting an Ambulance that was escorting a serious patient to hospital for resuscitation.
The scene became so relevant and meaningful for the STA, by that time on Friday evening on a busy street in the Balasore Town that, the feature was later picked from social media and propagated for mass awareness.
The journalist, who became Samaritan to create a green- corrider himself for the hurried ambulance, expanding his handspans amid his crowded barat party, has been identified as Sambit Behera, a reporter of premier Odia Daily ‘The Prameya’ in its Bhubaneswar headquarters.
The good sense of social responsibility that Sambit depicted in the Balasore Town last evening came to fore today after the noble gesture was instantly hosted on the internet by an onlooker, and found reposted by the STA on its official X handle.
In the post the STA hailed Sambit and said, “While the groom was on his marriage procession, an ambulance came from behind. As soon as he saw this, the groom himself immediately got out of the car and made arrangements for the ambulance to pass swiftly for the hospital. The man in the ambulance is young journalist Sambit. He is thanked and congratulated for performing his duty as a good citizen.”
Sambit, a journalist both inner & outer, who was absolutely unaware of his surveillance amidst the grand gettogether, however said, he performed as per his conscience with a mere civic sense.
Elaborating his long & tedious journey from his homeland Dandamukundpur in Puri to the Rasalpur in Balasore with barats and musical troupes, Sambit said, “My grand marriage procession that was heading towards the Pabitra Rista Convention in Balasore might have disturbed people en-route in many ways. Any way, it incurred no impact on someone’s life. However, I was moved to see an ambulance, speeding for the hospital with a patient needing utmost emergency, was striving for a way out.”
“On my ethnic attire, I had to come off the bedecked car meant for the groom soon, dispersed my friends & relatives who were enjoying the barat shaking their legs in tune with a folk-nuptial lyric, synchronized with the DJ beats and escorted the Ambulance get going.”, Behera added.
In a significant revelation Behera also said that, his father, was also making ways for the Ambulance earlier, realizing the worries of the patient and his attendants, stranded due to the barat’s show.
