Rourkela, Feb 5: Traffic movement at the Basanti Colony vicinity in Odisha’s Rourkela has been severely affected after the derailment of a freight train this morning.
As a result of the derailment, three carriages of the train came off the tracks and subsequently crashed into a nearby parking area at Malgodam Basti. Thereafter, the road linking Malgodam Railway Gate and Basanti Road has been blocked leading to significant inconvenience for commuters.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
Currently, operations by local authorities are underway to remove the derailed carriages and restore normal traffic conditions.
