Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: In an act of generosity amidst heartbreaking grief, the parents of 12-year-old Minati, who was killed after a ‘Mo Bus’ ran over her in Bhubaneswar, have decided to donate her eyes—giving the gift of sight to those in need.
Despite the unbearable pain of losing their daughter, Minati’s parents made the courageous decision to donate her eyes after the post-mortem at Capital Hospital.
Their selfless act has been widely applauded.
It is worth mentioning that Minati was killed in a mishap that took place at around 8 AM on Tuesday when she was riding her bicycle and the speeding Mo Bus hit her from behind at Raghunathpur area under Nandankanan police limits in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. Subsequently, it ran over her crushing her to death on the spot.
Following the mishap, the bus driver had surrendered at the Nandankanan police station.
Angered by the incident, local residents staged a protest by blocking the Nandankanan-Patia road with bamboo, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The agitators demanded strict action against the bus driver, compensation for the deceased's family, and improved road safety measures.
