Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted light rain in some northwestern districts of Odisha today, while the weather across the rest of the state is expected to remain mostly dry.
The regional office of the IMD in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts. Moderate fog is anticipated in a few areas of Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts on Tuesday.
However, dry weather conditions are expected to prevail across Odisha until January 5.
Cold wave is set to intensify from tomorrow, persisting for the following three days. Night temperatures are likely to drop by 3°C to 4°C. Bhubaneswar is expected to record a low of 13°C, while Sundargarh and Jharsuguda may experience severe cold nights.
Additionally, a fresh low-pressure system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal on January 3. It is expected to induce rainfall in Odisha's coastal regions. Farmers are advised to lift their paddy crops.
