CAPITAL DAY

Bhubaneswar, Apr 13: The capital city Bhubaneswar celebrated its 77th Capital Foundation Day on Sunday with a vibrant parade and heartfelt tributes, reflecting on its legacy and evolution.

Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy led the celebrations by hoisting the national flag and taking the salute at a ceremonial parade. The day began with floral tributes at the foundation stone plaque near the Odisha Legislative Assembly, setting the stage for the commemorative events.

A grand parade featuring 21 contingents—including police forces and college band teams—marched from Rabindra Mandap to Jayadev Bhawan, highlighting the spirit of unity and pride.

Mayor Sulachana Das reflected on Bhubaneswar’s journey of growth and transformation over the decades.

“This year, school students were not part of the parade due to the prevailing summer heat,” said Pradumnya Mohanty, vice president of the Celebration Committee.

The event was a tribute to Bhubaneswar’s enduring legacy as the capital of Odisha, celebrating its past, present, and aspirations for the future.
