Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday reached Delhi to attend a meeting organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
During his two-day official visit to New Delhi, Majhi will attend preparatory meeting related to the celebration of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas organised by the MEA.
The flagship annual event that celebrates the contribution of the Indian diaspora across the world in the development of the country will be held at Janata Maidan here from January 8 to 10 next year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event and President Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to Odisha, is expected to attend on the concluding day.
The event will offer an opportunity to engage and connect with the overseas Indians and enable the diaspora to collaborate in nation-building.
More than 5,000 delegates are expected to visit Odisha during the period following which the MEA has asked the state government to make arrangements for at least 4,500 hotel rooms.
