Cuttack, Nov 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday inaugurated the historic Bali Yatra at the specified Bali Yatra grounds in Odisha’s Cuttack
The chief minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida declared the biggest trade fair open in the upper and lower Bali Jatra grounds on the bank of River Mahanadi.
Among others, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhuprasad Tarai, Cuttack mayor Subas Singh, Barbati Cuttack MLA Sophia Firdosh, Choudwar Cuttack MLA Sauvik Biswal and Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Sethi also joined the inaugural ceremony of the biggest maritime festivity that marks the ancient trade practices of Odias.
This year, more than 2,500 stalls have been made in 32 acre area of the Bali Jatra grounds. Of those, ORMAS has set up as many as 500 stalls for its exclusive exhibition.
For the first time, Ambassadors, High Commissioners and diplomats from at least 15 pacific nations under the aegis of ASEAN and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) attended the event.
