Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: The Odisha government has launched a helpline number to support urban homeless people in locating nearby shelters.
The helpline number is 9777668071.
This step, proposed by the 13th State-Level Sheltering Monitoring Committee (SLSMC) and it aims to make shelter access more convenient for people living at railway stations, bus stands, and other crowded areas.
“This helpline empowers citizens to report the presence of homeless individuals and guide them to the nearest shelter, ensuring they receive timely help,” shared Rabindra Kumar Sahu, Project Director of SUDA.
Municipal corporations and NACs authorities have already been directed to display this helpline number in public spaces as soon as possible.
This helpline number is expected to bridge the gap in shelter convenience and contribute to the rehabilitation of the homeless.
