New Delhi, Feb 2: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along with several other prominent personalities extended their best wishes on the occasion of Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja today.
President Murmu took to her official ‘X’ handle and prayed Maa Saraswati to establish India as the knowledge centre of the world.
"Heartiest greetings to all countrymen on Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja! On this joyous occasion and festival related to education and knowledge, I wish happiness, prosperity knowledge and wisdom to all countrymen. I pray to Maa Saraswati to establish India as the knowledge centre of the world," wrote Murmu.
Similarly, PM Modi wished prosperity, and well-being on Basant Panchami. Taking to his ‘X’ handle and wrote, "Best wishes on the auspicious occasions of Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings and wrote, "Heartiest greetings to all the countrymen on the sacred festival of Basant Panchami. I wish that Mother Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and discretion, brings happiness and prosperity in everyone's life."
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, "Heartiest greetings to all countrymen on the auspicious festival of Basant Panchami. On this festival of enthusiasm and joy, may Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and learning, bring joy and happiness in everyone's life."
Notably, Saraswati Puja, also known as Vasant Panchami, is celebrated on the fifth day of the Magha month (January-February) and holds great importance in Hinduism.
One of the key traditions of the festival is ‘Aksharabhyasam’, a ritual that initiates young children into education. This auspicious ceremony marks a child's first step into the world of learning.
