Mayurbhanj, Feb 1: Odia girl Karisma Sharma has brought immense pride to Odisha by winning Rs 12.5 lakh in the popular reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) hosted by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
Hailing from Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, Karisma is the daughter of businessman Vijay Kumar Sharma and Kanti Devi Sharma.
Karisma’s journey on KBC was nothing short of remarkable. Participating in the show which airs on Sony TV, she impressed everyone with her knowledge and composure. She successfully answered a series of challenging questions.
The episode featuring Karisma aired on January 23 and 27 on Sony TV and was screened on large LED displays at two locations in her city, allowing friends, family, and well-wishers to cheer for her success.
Interacting with ‘News7’, Karisma said, “Initially I couldn’t believe or feel that I have achieved something big. When I came back home and saw the response of my family members, then things synced in.”
“At first when I got call for the show, we thought it was a fake call. But later, when they tried reaching me several times through call and sent the tickets, then I believed and proceeded,” said Karisma.
“My experience was unbelievable. We used to watch Amitabh sir on TV. When I saw him in-front of me, I felt like I was in the dream world for 10-15 minutes. Obviously I am happy for winning Rs 12.5 lakh, but the best part was that me and my entire family got chance to have lunch with Amitabh sir,” she added.
