Know Suryabanshi Suraj, the newly elected Dhamnagar MLA

Dhamnagar, Nov 6: BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj has won the Dhamnagar by-poll which was held on November 3. Chief Electoral Officer  (CEO) declared it after the counting of votes was concluded in the evening today. With this, Suraj became the new MLA of the Dhamnagar constituency who was contesting the election with the support of the BJP. BJP candidate Suraj won the by-election conducted after his  father and the former  MLA of Dhamnagar,  Bisnu Sethi’s untimely demise. Suraj retained his father’s legacy by defeating the candidate from the ruling BJD, Abanti Das today. Let’s know who is Suryabanshi Suraj , who won the tough race of the Dhamnagar by-poll and won the battle with a thumping majority today. Suryabanshi Suraj(27) is the son of late Bishnu Sethi, the former MLA of  Dhamnagar who died of kidney-related ailments. Suraj graduated from ITER, the premier technical institute of Sikshya ‘O’ Anusandhan University(SOA) Bhubaneswar. After completing matriculation in 2010 in Bhadrak district Suraj joined ITER as a B-Tech student in 2012 and successfully passed out as a techie. Subsequently, he joined FM University for his MTech in 2016 and acquired the degree in 2020. He also served in a reputed software company in Bengaluru before coming back to Bhadrak where he worked in Dhamra port for a brief period. Subsequently, he was made a member of the Yuva Morcha of BJP. However, his debut in direct politics was accidental, after the sudden demise of his father. He followed his father’s footprint and later won the by-poll with a margin of 9881 votes.
